What A Writer Needs - A Sense of Place Exercise

The building seemed darker than it usually did. The bright, red bricks that usually shone in the sunlight seemed empty, black, and dull. The building, tall and grand, turned into tall and bland. The clouds had turned from a bright white to a dark and depressing grey color. The sky had now turned into a disgustingly grey blue. The thunder rumbled. It started raining little raindrops, which felt more like little tears. The rain was too comforting to stay away from. Why bother going inside?


The building was shining a bright red in the gorgeous sunlight. Each individual brick shined with the sunlight. It was a beautiful day out today. The feeling of the warm sun and the way it made almost everything shine was just amazing. However, it started getting darker outside. The clouds and the sky became grey. The thunder came and the rain started coming like little snowflakes. It was time to go inside, maybe for some coffee in a quiet and warm coffee shop.
